Dry Needling
Dry needling is a highly effective technique used to treat muscle pain and movement impairments.
It involves the insertion of very fine, sterile needles into specific trigger points or tight bands within muscles. This process helps to release muscle tension, improve blood flow, and reduce pain by stimulating a local twitch response and desensitising the irritable spot. Performed by our specially trained physiotherapists, dry needling can provide significant relief for conditions such as neck pain, back pain, headaches, and various sports injuries, helping to restore normal muscle function and range of motion.
As a result of needle insertion changes can be seen both local to the needle (mechanical and chemical changes intramuscularly) and centrally (central nervous system). The term dry needling also denotes that there is no injectable substance used throughout the procedure. There is no additional cost for this service, which is integrated in many physiotherapy consultations.
